Yes / no - was/were + subject + ving 


Was I thinking about you ?

Was he going to market ? 


Wh word question -

Wh word + was/were + subject + ving 


Why was I thinking ?

Where was he going ? 


Negative - subject + was/were + not + ving 


I was not thinking.

He was not going to market.
