 Dowry system must be abolished


Yes, dowry system should and must be abolished.This is not a good system. It must have started as an option or as a tradition.The father of the rich bride would offer or give money to the groom. But gradually it became compulsory for everyone to give dowry at the time of the marriage of their daughters.Even the poorest father would have to give dowry. It is not that a poor groom needs money, even rich families also claim dowry.They don't marry their sons to the girls who don't bring a good amount of dowry with them.The father of the girl has to spend all his savings in his life and even has to sell his land and use all the property for the marriage of the daughter.It must have started as a tradition, but now it has become very serious and dangerous to the society.Many girls are killed because of this system. When the daughters marry, they have to tolerate the tortures from the husband's family.Even after getting dowry at the time of marriage, the family of the groom demands more money after marriage.This system laughs at the thought of the protection of our daughters.The dowry system kind of legalises the torture to the bride at the hand of the husband's family members.The bride is also a member of the husband's family that she marries. Why should anyone claim dowry for that member of the family ?
