Direct and indirect speech

These things change from direct speech to indirect speech

Present simple     -              past simple
present continuous       -     past continuous
Present Perfect        -        past perfect
Present Perfect continuous -  past perfect continuous

I said, " I am going home."
I said that I was going home.

"Am" will change to "was" as am is in present continuous tense and we have to change it into past continuous tense.

I say, "I don't write well."
I say that I don't write well.

The tense in the sentence before the inverted comma carries it to the indirect speech.

He said to me, "I have not eaten your apples."
He told me that he had not eaten my apples.

I said that I had met you the day before/the previous day.

I said, "I will go to Bhubaneswar tomorrow."

Monali said to Soni, "You have done my homework."
Monali told Soni that she had done her homework.

Kavita said to Krishna, "I can't get good marks."
Kavita told Krishna that she couldn't get good marks.

Mohan said to Dasarathi, "Your bike will not work."
Mohan told Dasarathi that his bike wouldn't work.

The boy said to her, "I may pass the exam."
The boy told her that he might pass the exam.

She said to my brother, "I shall meet your father."
She told my brother that she would meet my father.

Hina Khan said to Hrithik, "I read this book in my graduation days."
Hina Khan told Hrithik that she had read that book in her graduation days.

My friend said to me, "Who put sugar in my tea ?"
My friend asked me who had put sugar in his tea.

I said to you, "Who read this book ?"
I asked you who had read that book.

He said, "How is your father ?"
He asked me how my father was.

He said to me, "Do you eat chocolate ?"
He asked me if/whether I ate chocolate.

My friend said to his sister, "Can I forgive you ?"
My friend asked her sister if he could forgive her.
